Grammar Abuse in Signage: Part 18

I was out for a quiet coffee with my wife over the weekend and, as I headed to the counter to pay for our drinks, I was met with this egregious pair of notices.

Once again, for the pathologically illiterate, pluralisation does not require an apostrophe.

As you cast your eye casually northwards, you notice that they are no longer accepting £50 notes, for which they 'appologies' for any 'inconveinience' caused. You have no idea what kind of so-called 'inconveinience', nay grief, you have caused.

Can we have the discussion about 'panini' already being plural in Italian so not needing an 's'. I always enjoy that one.

Gah! I missed off a question mark. Damn Mondays.

Well my original post had a number of errors in it, as you rightly pointed out.

I second your sentiment regarding Mondays, although I'd probably extend it to include any day before coffee has been imbibed.

I always find it extra humourous when signs like the top one have gone through a lamination process without anyone noticing the whopping errors.

Spelling errors should never be laminated. That's my mantra.

Paddy, I'm thinking that perhaps they should be laminated. To serve as a warning to others.

Ah, the long term outlook. You're probably correct, but there needs to be a rule about who can perform lamination.

It should never be the bad-spelling culprit who laminates, but an independent spelling directive body may laminate if it means preserving a piece of horror for educational purposes. That's my new mantra.

That's a hell of mantra.
